FDI cap hike to 100% in insurance to boost coverage, jobs: Experts
They were commenting on the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill, 2025, which was passed by the Parliament on Wednesday. The bill seeks to raise FDI (foreign direct investment) limit in the insurance sector from 74 per cent to 100 per cent.

Parliament on Wednesday passed a Bill to raise foreign direct investment (FDI) in the insurance sector to 100% from the current 74%, a move expected to attract higher foreign capital inflows, support the adoption of global governance and innovation standards, and deepen insurance penetration in the country.

SEBI board clears revamp of broker, MF rules; defers conflict-of-interest code
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Wednesday approved overhauls of regulations governing stockbrokers and mutual funds, while deferring a decision on the proposed conflict-of-interest framework for the regulator’s board members, citing privacy and operational concerns. “There are privacy concerns among certain employees about public disclosure of assets and liabilities, including movable and immovable assets. While they are willing to make such disclosures internally to the appropriate authority, there is reluctance around placing this information in the public domain,” SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said at a press conference after the board meeting.

FPI debt inflows hinge on trade deal clarity, rupee stability
Foreign investors began withdrawing from government securities in December, ending five straight months of inflows. The expectation of no more rate cuts, elevated global yields, and a declining rupee are the factors which contributed to the outflows, said market participants.
